No longer 'Green vs Gold.' Now 'Green = Gold'

Notes: In this op ed column, Thomas Friedman focuses on global resource and energy efficiency as the next big international trend. With two billion more people expected on our planet by 2050, they will to want to live to live and drive like Americans. Unfortunately our planet does not have this resource capacity.
Therefore, Friedman writes that we will need an American "energy policy that puts in place rising efficiency standards, for buildings, windows, traffic, housing, packaging and appliances that will drive innovation — which is our strength — in what has to be the next great global industry: energy and resource efficiencey."
Friedman then quotes author James Bradfield Moody, "We going to go from green versus gold to green equals gold."
Amory Lovins, physicist and chairman of the Rocky Mountain Institute, states:
"You don't have to believe in climate change to solve it. Everything we do to raise energy efficiency will make money, improve security and health, and stabilize the climate."
