Source: YouTube video, Girl Asks ACTUAL Climate Expert: What Could Happen?
This is a very sobering and scary video by a young college age woman interviewing climate scientist Justin Wood. The full video text of Justin's observation of climate science is below.
"97% of actual active climate scientists agree with that position that climate change is real, it's happening right now, and humans are the overwhelming cause in this century and have been for the last 100 years. 'Is it going to be bad or is it going to be horrifically bad' this is what the scientists debate around, not it could be fine. Nothing like that."
"The way we are going, if we continue with business as usual if get these rises of temperature by the end of the century of 4, 6, 8, 10 degrees, then he (Professor Kevin Anderson, Professor of Energy and Climate at University of Manchester, United Kingdom) believes that we would be lucky if 5, maybe 10% of the human population survives the century. The planet would essentially be uninhabitable for humans.
Allowing for the maximum evaporation to cool us down, (temperatures at and above) 35 degrees Celsius is fatal for humans. We cannot radiate away the heat that we naturally produce so we would just die of heat stress. For huge proportions of the earth, under these kinds of scenarios, that wet ball temperature of 35 degrees (Celsius) would be exceeded.
It is impassible because our civilizations would have collapsed long before we get to the point of digging up every last barrel of oil. On the path we are headed now, by some estimates, we are going to hit 4 degrees rise from the preindustrial by the middle of the century. That is just four decades away!
We have got to stop kidding ourselves. This is what the science is showing us.
Under those conditions, I cannot imagine how the vast majority of humans are going to be able to continue."
"It is not it that climate change could necessarily be a species extinction event for humanity, but you can't rule it out. How crazy are we to continue to be operating in this way?"
